Founder’s Day is May 30

The Old Towne Shoppes on the Square will be hosting a wine tasting and Gallery Walk during Founders Day. This has become somewhat of a tradition each year on the square. The artists are all local and are being presented to us by the Rockwall Art League. The featured wine will be from Rockwall’s own San Martino Winery. This event is being called Sip n’ Stroll.

Sip n’ Stroll Details:

From 4-6 Saturday afternoon, eleven retail shoppes will be participating in the Sip n’ Stroll event. Eight of the shoppes will be showcasing a total of 15 local artists. Most of the artists are members of the Rockwall Art League.

All eleven of the shoppes participating in the Sip n’ Stroll will be serving cheeses, Hor D’oeuvres etc, many of which will be from Bella’s House (right here on the square).  Each shoppe will also have a different wine selection, all from San Martino Winery (just north of here on Hwy 205).

Candlelight & Lamposts will have Rio Raspberry Jalapeno Jelly served over Softened Cream Cheese on Crackers as well as Black Bean and Corn Salsa with Corn Chips. Maria Ramos is choosing a proper wine to serve with our appetizers.

Participating Artists:

Johnny Gomez, Dave Smithers, Sueratta Todd, Laura Antony, Janice Hamilton, Tammy Bowers, Carmen Wilkins, Yvonne Boltz, Darlene Dittoe, Darla Hill, Kathleen Finan, Helen Comeau, Dixie Bickerstaff, Tommie Ledford, Tyce McLarty, Betty Foster.

I’ve seen several of the artists works and we’re really in for a treat. Our little community of Rockwall has some very talented people.

Artists Featured at Candlelight & Lamposts:

-David Smithers has been learning the art of photography since he was a boy, when one of his teachers gave him a camera and said to go take some pictures. Dave’s creative photos reflect his interest in sports such as sky diving and sailing. He will wait all day to “capture the moment” when composition, light and shadow are perfect to convey a feeling. Dave runs Rockwall Sunsets Photography.

-Johnny Gomez spent his career as a commercial artist while practicing his art skills on canvas during his spare time. He is a devout Christian and that characteristic shows through in many of his paintings.

Once again many wonderful events are happening on our Historic Towne Square. These are  just a few of them!

Farmer’s Market opens May 2
The Farmer’s Market will be with us all summer beginning May 2nd. To help kick off this season, they will have a high school jazz band to entertain at 11:00 am. In spite of the unusual weather we’ve had, about a dozen vendors will have produce ready. Additional vendors will be added as late crops have a chance to ripen and the shoppes on the Square will open at 8:00am each Saturday to accommodate the many shoppers who visit our Farmer’s Market each week

Mother’s Day is May 10
Mothers Day is upon us once again! Flowers are really nice but they soon wilt and are gone! Why not give her a gift that she will cherish and enjoy for years to come? I’m talking about Brighton! Every woman loves Brighton and we have a wonderful selection covering all price points. Why not drop in at Candlelight & Lamposts and pick out a nice item. If she is not totally pleased with your selection, she is welcome to come in and trade with us.
